Born in Lima, Peru in 1974, R. Martin Saenz's interest in law can be traced back to his childhood in Peru.  His father was a judge and a practicing attorney in Peru before retiring in the United States.  Martin followed in his father's footsteps and is currently domiciled in Miami, Florida, where he is the managing partner of The Saenz Law Firm, P.A., and in Lima, Peru, although he regularly visits his clients throughout all of Latin America.

Martin's educational background and experience can be traced to the beginning of his legal training in a Peruvian law school (San Martin de Porres) where he spent three years studying law.  During this time, he also served as a clerk for the Law Offices of Escurra, Rubio and Villar, a commercial and labor and employment litigation firm in Lima.

Following the first three years of law school in Peru, Martin made the decision to move to the United States. There, he studied political science and pre-law at Syracuse University in Utica, New York.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was awarded with the Outstanding Senior in Political Science award.  His study of American law in the United States continued when he attended the Syracuse University College of Law in Syracuse, New York.  In addition to his classes, Martin clerked for U.S. District Court Judge, Andrea Simonton; was the executive director to the Syracuse Journal of International Law and Commerce; an associate editor to the Syracuse Law & Technology Journal; a member of the Vienna International Commerce Moot Court Team and a member of the National Security Law Team. In May of 2002, he graduated with a Juris Doctor degree and a Global Law and Practice certificate.

In addition, Martin has authored the following articles: LexisNexis Practice Guide: Florida Business Torts (Pub 1388): Fraud; LexisNexis Practice Guide: Florida Business Torts (Pub 1388): RICO; Florida Practice Guide on Civil Procedure: Motions: Disqualification of the Judge (LexisNexis 2005); Florida Practice Guide on Civil Procedure: Motions: Consolidation and Severance (LexisNexis 2005); and Florida Practice Guide on Civil Procedure: Motions: Perpetuation of Testimony (LexisNexis 2005).

Prior to opening The Saenz Law Firm, Martin acquired extensive experience representing a large clientele base in cases arising out of a broad spectrum of legal disputes such as corporate litigation, real estate litigation, commercial disputes, collections, foreclosure defense, and labor & employment litigation.  With an eye for preventing litigation Martin is also experienced in drafting and negotiating contracts in Spanish and in English among his additional litigation duties.

Today, Martin seeks to offer the best representation in legal matters to his clients in Latin America and in the United States through his experience and the expertise, energy and passion of The Saenz Law Firm's attorneys and staff.

Martin is fluent in Spanish and English and is proficient in Italian.  His bar admissions include the Supreme Court of Florida, the United States Southern District of Florida, and the United States Middle District of Florida.  In his spare time, he likes to listen to classic rock music, play pool, and read.
